[WARNING] This is another one of my boring, thinking posts. Feel free to read, if you think you'd find it useful though!
But the more I think about it, the more I've realised I'd quite like to do another year studying. I want to stay local, so I'm primarily looking at Reading and Brunel Universities. These are the ones I'm quite interested in:
- MSc Financial Engineering - teaches C++ and other programming tools. But also probability theory, which I'm not keen on.
- MSc Mathematics of Scientific and Industrial Computations - hmm, sounds useful, but I'm not entirely sure of what it really leads to after graduating.
- MSc Informatics by Research - think I can specialise in computing, or perhaps biodiversity?
- MSc Computational Mathematics with Modelling - only requires a 2:2
- MSc Advanced Multimedia Design and 3D Technologies - requires me to get experience, as I don't have a very relevant degree. But this really interests me!
- MSc Data Communication Systems - looks relevant to a career in software development, but also looks incredibly quite hard. Only asks for maths degree, but I think I still would die doing this.
- MA Creative Writing - The Novel - this is more just because it interests me :) but my Dad would never let me do it! He still encourages me to write though, so the chances of me doing this are slim.
My Dad has stressed that I should only go on to Postgraduate studies if it will help my career prospects in a specific area, but as I still don't quite know what that area is, I'm baffled.
All I know is that I am tending towards working in a filming production company. They seem to ask for experience in computing areas (they're a bit more specific than that), and that's why I'm looking at these Masters in particular. I'm still unsure!
I have so many interests, it's hard to pinpoint a career that would really satisfy me in life.
Why is this so hard?! I never thought I'd turn 21 and still not know what I'm doing with my life.
Has anyone else found it hard deciding what to do after education?
Gosh you are so much more organised than I am, Shlee and these look really good. Creative Writing at UEA is AWESOME (yeah advertising my uni a teeeeny bit) but honestly good luck.
ReplyDeleteOh and you are definitely NOT the only one without a career plan!
I still need to figure if any of them would be useful afterwards...
DeleteHave you heard anything more about your PGCE? :)
